Shankar is in the army. On his return he finds out that he has lost his wife and father in a fire. His child, Ramu, has stopped talking. Shankar sets off to city to get Ramu treated. Instead, he ends up in Meena's house after a quarrel with Thakur leaves him wounded on the road.
